Costa Mesa, CA, August 3, 2023 – The prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school Carlson Gracie will celebrate its grand opening with an open house at Triangle Square on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 10 am to 2 pm. There will be an open mat so visitors can casually train on their own and roll or spar with other students upon signing a waiver.
The first 50 students to sign up will receive an introductory rate of $150 per month (no contract, cancel at any time) and a free gi or jiu-jitsu uniform. This special membership fee offers unlimited classes and training opportunities with some of the top jiu-jitsu coaches in the world.
All visitors who sign up at the open house will receive one complimentary class.
“We are excited to be part of the community and are dedicated to helping people of all ages and skill levels progress in jiu-jitsu as well as encouraging a commitment to lifelong learning, self-improvement, and well-being,” said Anthony Misitano, a Huntington Beach resident and owner of Carlson Gracie Costa Mesa, as well as The Mobile Barkery, the popular local dog treat food truck. “We provide a safe and family-friendly environment that allows for growth and fosters self-confidence in any student, even for those with no experience.”
Misitano, who holds a brown belt, has been practicing jiu-jitsu for eight years, all of which have been under Carlson Gracie. He studied under black belt Mark Daley in Chicago and has won numerous tournaments including being named the NoGi Pan American Champion twice, Pan American Silver twice, National Champion five times, and received a bronze award at Masters Worlds. Diego Segura, a black belt for six years, is a business partner in Carlson Gracie Costa Mesa.
Coaches will include Misitano and Dave Hudson, a black belt for 14 years and a jiu-jitsu teacher for nearly 20 years. Hudson is also a former competitor who competed at the World Championships in Brazil in 2002 and has won numerous local and national tournaments.
Carlson Gracie Costa Mesa will offer classes Monday through Saturday in the Carlson Gracie method of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, as well as Nogi, Gi, and self-defense for both adults and children with no age limit and no experience required. Misitano says he will later add Muai Thai, boxing, judo, wrestling, women’s-only classes, and an eight-week beginner course.
